Prior to 2024, Sabra was a joint venture between PepsiCo and Strauss Group. Strauss Group is one of Israel's largest food/beverage corporations and materially supported the Golani Brigade of the IOF, a particularly brutal division of an already ruthlessly violent army. Until confronted with a public protest campaign, Strauss Group had proudly boasted about their material support for the Golani Brigade on their website (Shiney-Ajay). In 2005, BDS launched the boycott call against Sabra Hummus and the brand value declined to the point that Strauss Group eventually sold their half of the ownership of the brand to PepsiCo, which now fully owns Sabra. PepsiCo continues to maintain its long-standing business ties to Strauss Group, a fact which is easily observable on [their website](https://straussfritolay.strauss-group.co.il/), so despite the fact that Strauss Group no longer maintains partial ownership of Sabra, the brand continues to normalize and uphold Israeli apartheid under PepsiCo. See entry on PepsiCo for more information.
